Mission: Translate Pop For the Masses
Every week, Pop is So Deep takes a shovel to the pop cultural landscape, digging for hidden truths behind our generation’s seemingly shallow pop anthems. PISD brings these truths to the surface carefully, utilizing our differing perspectives, while recognizing the limitations of our experiences. By analyzing the artifacts embedded in the strata of pop culture, we can prove that in fact Pop, is So Deep.
Death Threats etc...
With vast experience in the entertainment industry, Buck thought it was finally time to share his knowledge with the world. He started Pop is So Deep with fellow theater kid Sarah Kassel in the hopes that complex pop song lyrics can finally be understood by the masses. Buck is a proud flaming liberal and resides in Los Angeles.
Sarah Kassel (call her Kassel) is a PR queen by day and a little terror by night. Sarah has always dreamt of being famous and as soon as she met Buck she knew he was her ticket in. Even though she's from a small town in upstate New York, Sarah has always managed to stay up to date on pop culture. She is currently looking for an agent or a boyfriend.
Brittany is a Valley girl born and raised and the Mother Theresa of PISD creative marketing and media. When she's not denying the stark reality that she peaked in high school, Brit enjoys being triggered, speaking Italian, and the smell of fresh linens. Sharper than Spears, wetter than Snow, it's Brittany, bitch.
Nicole is the executive producer of Pop is So Deep. Wow. Beauty AND brains. Her hobbies include dressing in all black, talking sternly into a disconnected bluetooth headset, and telling people she's the executive producer of Pop is So Deep. While she spends most of her time helping us make the magic happen, she also has a side hustle as an aspiring bar mitzvah DJ.
Dillon is an art major who specializes in music, lifestyle, and portrait photography. Dillon is the man behind all those riveting cover photos for the show every week. When he’s not secretly judging Buck and Kassel for their over-the-top antics he enjoys listening to Paramore and eating acai bowls in his hometown of San Diego.
